Shutterstock1.Nitrates (e.g., nitroglycerin, isosorbide dinitrate): Cialis and nitrates both lower blood pressure. Taking them together can cause a significant and potentially life-threatening drop in blood pressure (hypotension), leading to dizziness, fainting, or even heart attack or stroke. It is contraindicated to use Cialis with nitrates or recreational "poppers" (amyl nitrites).
2.Alpha-blockers (e.g., prazosin, terazosin, tamsulosin): Both Cialis and alpha-blockers relax blood vessels, which can lead to excessive blood pressure reduction when used together. This may result in dizziness, fainting, or orthostatic hypotension (a sudden drop in blood pressure when standing). If needed, your doctor may adjust the dosage or recommend spacing the medications.
3.Other antihypertensive drugs (e.g., atenolol, propranolol, enalapril, lisinopril): Cialis can enhance the blood-pressure-lowering effects of these medications. While this interaction is usually less severe than with nitrates or alpha-blockers, it can still cause dizziness or fainting in sensitive individuals. Close monitoring of blood pressure is recommended.

The Food and Drug Administration has issued an order for the suspension of all prescription drugs that contain the ingredient sildenafil. Sildenafil is used to treat male sexual function problems (impotence or erectile dysfunction-ED).
Drugs that contain sildenafil include Viagra (sildenafil citrate), Revatio, and Revatio XR. (The Revatio brand of the medicine was recalled and the generic Revatio XR was sold to the public).
The FDA also issued a safety notice for the manufacturers of the drugs. The notice provides a full list of ingredients and warning labels. The company is also working on a new class of drugs called phosphodiesterase inhibitors. The company has been accused of overstepping the drug’s warning.
Sildenafil can interact with other drugs and be harmful. This includes nitrates and medicines for chest pain. This is because sildenafil can lower blood pressure to dangerous levels. Sildenafil must be used only by men 18 years and older.
In an order issued today, the FDA said that the drug’s label will be updated in two weeks to reflect that the drug is now safe and effective. The order is expected to be reviewed by the FDA from July 2 to 9, 2015.
The company is asking the FDA to consider the following questions:
If the FDA determines the label will not comply with the requirements of Section 505(j) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, as amended (FD& C Act or applicable law), the agency will determine the matter to the lowest court.
The company and its partner companies may file a supplemental response to the FDA’s request with the agency within two weeks after the date of final submission. If the company does not file a supplemental response, the FDA may ask the FDA to approve the request with the new law or the FD& C Act.
The FDA’s decision will be determined by this court’s decision on the second supplemental response. The court will also consider the other factors listed in paragraph (b) of this paragraph that are relevant here.
